the rest of the world????

The rest of the world is SICK of the American hypocracy & do NOT want us in Iraq - let alone killing Iraqis.

Surely Iraq is a better place without the Hussein family, BUT is was certainly not worth the tens of BILLIONS of dollars, the tens of thousands of lives & the upcoming decades of ciliv unrest & ancharcy that the Iraqi's will endure.

But enough about reality, by all means - get back to your "Go Georgie, Go Georgie" parade.

You 2 are not much smarter. That was exactly the point of my post. Regardless of your political views, or your opinion of the war, or of Bush, the killing of Saddam's 2 sons should be a momentous occasion. Not an America and Bush bashing event.

It seems no terrific event can go unchallenged and without cynicism from the hate-America left.

"Surely Iraq is a better place without the Hussein family..."

I will have to give you credit there lander, many Times readers would not even go that far, even without the required yes,but... that follows.

I love America, but I hate redneck imbiciles like you who seem to be all too populous these days. You're a blind little coward ... a political bandwagon jumper of sorts & I'm sure you'd have blended right in Nazi-Germany ... hell, you'd wave the biggest flag.

Wake the fuk up stupid - humanity is our link, not nationality.

Jack-Maybe it would be preferable to you if Uday was still raping and killing women just for kicks. I'm sorry i for one cannot work up much sympathy for a legendary piece of shit like him. Yes death is the only thing he deserved.

Blah blah blah...media hype, propaganda, hyperbole.

Their death will upgrade them to "martyr" status indeed.

"why would the killing of his sons be a momentous occasion"

Because these sub-humans are responsible for the death, torture, and raping of well over 100,000 people.

Yes, I am well aware. Not exactly sure what that has to do with anything. It is called a mistake.

Question: When you make a mistake do you
a) let the problem continue
b) Try to correct it

Take your time Jack Dee, I know your not used to reasoned arguing. Give it some thought.

duly noted, lander.

If the US continues to support "friendlies" that later turn "evil", we can no longer call it a mistake.

Radio, I agree. That was finally a thoughtful post. Do you have any specific "friendly" in mind that you think will turn evil. I have a guess what you're thinking but theres no need to say it.

Actually, I am pretty positive what your thinking- it goes hand in hand with disliking America.

I'm also referring to those dictators that the US has backed in the past whose actions caused US judgment to look a bit clouded...

Pinochet,
Franco,
Somoza,
Batista,
Porfirio Diaz.

(more examples abound, and it would be good to note that most dictators haven't been solely supported by the US, Europe has its skeletons too.)

US interests have become (and should be, post 9/11) to deter threats from occurring; to deter the kind of regimes that sow hatred against the financier of said dictators.
Most people see the money trail as ending in the US, and rightfully so in many cases. US interests are not to be as short sighted as to burn more bridges than they construct.

After all, what is a leader? Would you respect a leader who moves according to his needs?
I would want someone STRONGER. A leader (man, country etc.) who resists the urge to take the easy route, the irrational answer to an irrational happening.

???

I'm not sure how wishing for a more thorough foreign policy in accordance with humanity's concerns is being "anti-american".

Actually , the easy route is to ignore problems, and push them off to the next administration, as Clinton did.

"US interests have become ...to deter the kind of regimes that sow hatred against the financier of said dictators."

This statement most closely refers to Saudi Arabia. I could not agree more. Our policy with Saudi Arabia is terrible.

The Iraq war is very much in accordance with humanity's concerns. While many innocents died, the living conditions of the people is immeasurably improved, and will continue to improve with time.

agreed, its not correct to push things off for the next admin., but nor is it just to start things for the next admin.

When will this "war on terror" end?
